  3. CAI NGANG REVOLUTIONARY HISTORIC SITE

In the two revolutions against French colonist and American imperialism, Vinh Long became one of the most severe arenas in Mekong delta. Due to Vinh Long’s key location, the enemies always put their strength concentration in order to control this area. In our side, Vinh Long’s army and citizens under the leading role of Communist Party always resistently maintained and fought for each meter of homeland. Since Vinh Long’s terrain is quite empty with no forrest, no mountain and an intertwined system of channels and rivers, the resistance of land is a life-and-death issue to the province’s revolution.

In such historical background, Vinh Long provincial Communist Party – the headquarter of provincial resistance war – still remained our existence in order to fulfill the mission assigned by history. Getting over a great number of challenges and hardship, Vinh Long provincial Communist Party remained to lead all the provincial revolutions to victory. This success was based on the intimate relationship between Vinh Long provincial Communist Party and the citizens. Vinh Long provincial Communist Party completely relied on the citizens, encouraged the amazing strength and endless creativity of our citizens in order to win the enemies.

In the period of resistance war against the US, Vinh Long provincial Communist Party continuosly moved to almost all over the place of Vinh Long. From 1954 to 1966, Vinh Long provincial Communist Party moved across over 29 locations.

In 1966, Vinh Long provincial Communist Party decided to choose Cai Ngang to be the headquarters of the war. In 1967, the Party completely moved to Cai Ngang revolutionary location in hamlet 4, My Loc commune, which is currently hamlet 4, Phu Loc commune, Tam Binh district.
